We must live in the dark
because we came from the light.
And though we turn on electric lights,
we cannot avoid the coming of the night of life.
Meaningless, emptiness,
we must confront the dark side
when we enter the shadow of death,
hopeless and powerless to exist in this world
for we came from the light.
We need true light, not the artificial,
while we are living in this dark world.
We need the light of the beginning of the cosmos, (1)
for that light brings creative life, the energy of love. (2)
We saw the light, the Logos, the glory and the truth (3)
that day when we were wandering in the shadow of death.
The Light was the Logos (λόγος). (4)
He was God, and all creatures came from Him (5)
He was the light, and we followed Him in the deep dark world.
We will never walk in darkness again, (6)
even though we must live in this dark world.
The darkness has not understood the light we have met, (7)
the light that comes into us because we are in this deep dark world.
