All of us are beings who walk this journey called life. We walk until finishing the journey of life. Christian life is the journey to walk with Jesus for one’s lifespan. All of us met each other on this journey through this church community.
I am walking with Jesus and with congregations of Jesus’s church. This is my job as a pastor who serves the church. I began this walk with a congregation of a church on a small island in Korea’s western sea (1990 1994). Then, I moved over the sea and continued walking in Seoul, the capital city of Korea (1994-2004). I next moved further east, over the Pacific, and walked with a Korean-immigrant congregation in El Paso, Texas (2004-2017). In 2017, I moved to St. Mark’s in Midland to walk with Jesus and you together (2017-2024). Now, I am going to walk toward the east, to Holdenville in Oklahoma. I will continue walking with Jesus with the congregation there.
A walking journey is a venture. We see and experience uncomfortable environments and unexpected events. A walking journey also challenges us to develop, grow or transform ourselves through experiencing, understanding and accepting different people, environments or conditions. In this journey of life, we cannot avoid adventure and challenge. Now I am feeling Abraham’s heart when he heard the vocational voice from God: “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.” I am going to walk toward the eastern land to which the Holy Spirit pushes me.
You will walk with your new pastor soon. You will experience a different mood and environment with him. I pray that all of you can accept this journey as the opportunity to develop, grow and mature yourself. For this, I pray that the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus encourage and empower all of you. I also pray that St. Mark’s continues walking with, working with and following Jesus. In this journey, we are together in Christ Jesus.
