The person who wears clothes made with camel’s hair,
ties a leather belt around his waist,
eats locusts and wild honey in the wilderness, and (1)
has slept under the blanket of the stars,
he shouts, “He must increase, but I must decrease.”
Where is one who is not thirsty in this wilderness journey?
We are thirsty for love, thirsty for affirmation,
Thirsty for knowledge, thirsty for connection, and . . .
We walk to the well to draw water every day.
No!
It is not true!
I do not want to receive glory from human beings.(1)
You see in me your own desires.
Passing through this dark night of the Passover,
I am going to leave you through the walking of my way.
This supper is the last with you until I come back.
After the bloody feast of the Passover lamb—
Jesus of Galilee sacrificed on the cross (1)—
Those drunk with the smell of the blood of the lamb,
Those satisfied by the bloody feast,
When they returned to their ordinary lives
He returned to his home from Jerusalem.
He began fishing again, his ordinary job in Galilee.
The last three years he had walked and worked with Jesus.
It seemed like a dramatic dream: unexpected, exciting, awe-inspiring,
and frustrating, painful, confusing, shameful.
Truly, truly, I know
one of you will betray Me.
He is going to hand me over to my enemies.
Jesus’s heart was broken, and
Judas’ breathing stopped in that moment.
Take Him to death!

They ask Roman governor Pilate to kill Him;
They wanted Pilate to take His blood for them.
“Lord, where are you going now?
I am willing to go with you anywhere.”
My heart was sincerely running for Him;
my mind was full of His language.
I am still coming into the world as a light,
For I do not want you to stay in darkness. (1)
For I desire you to have eternal life in my light,
I have come into your deep hearts to bring light. (2)
